The CoG : The Church of Gaming Newsletter, February 2012
=========================================================

Two newsletters in two months. This is clearly a strange habit that should
be continued.

Sunday February 5th and February 19th : Pathfinder Planescape and Dark Heresy
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Felix (Pathfinder) and Redmond (Dark Heresy) continue their awesome games
on these days.

For those unfamiliar, Planescape is the setting for the numerous planes of
existence in the D&D cosmology. In this particular setting the PCs have
soul gems which makes them unkillable in a sense, but also with some
additional quirks. Most recently the PCs stopped a freelanced for the city
guard, shipment of adamantine, joined up with a group of scavanging
plane-hoppers, and learned some secrets about dying without dying.

Dark Heresy is a gothic science fantasy game of Acolytes working for an
Inquisitor persecuting heretics and mutants. The worst heretics and
mutants of all are, of course, those that you find within.
We've been playing to the introductory adventure Illumination, to get the
just-created characters hunting down heretics and mutants in the Imperium
as fast as possible. Apparently there is more mutant alien heretic stories
yet to come.

Sunday February 12 and Sunday Febuary 26: Diaspora with GURPS Korea alternate
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diaspora combines hard science fiction with the narrativist FATE game
system. Karl has been running this very interesting scenario where the PCs
engage in subterfuge with and against each other in equal amounts as
respective solar systems conflict in technology, ideology and commerce.
The recent salvage operation from a destroyed pirate ship and cruise liner
is just a drop in this ocean of intrigue.

GURPS Koreans lost in China as the Han Empire falls apart with barbarians
to the north and the west, ghostly speculations and a pouty princess. If
Karl can't run Diaspora due to other commitments, then Michael will step
in with GURPS Korea

All these events are at 2pm, 110 Grey Street, East Melbourne

Sherlock Holmes Double at the Astor Friday 17th Feb at 7.30pm
-------------------------------------------------------------

As it says, the Astor is hosting a great double of Sherlock Holmes and
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Perfect billing for those who want a
bit of investigative background suitable for say.. Call of Cthulhu.

RPG Review 13 and 14
---------------------

The double issue concentrating (but not exclusively) on a range of
d20-related games and products has been released! It has *lots* of
Pathfinder material (thank you Felix), a year with Fantasy Craft (thank
you Karl) and a meta-review of D20 games (from moi - it's expected of me)
- plus much more.

The next issue will be on Science Fiction games - which is a big hint for
Dark Heresy, Diaspora, Traveller, Eclipse Phase, HELLAS etc.
