There is three simultaneous scenarios.
One is a single-unit roleplaying scenario with Derek and a couple of
allies sneaking into La Finistra.
The other is two mass battles between the Zeelanders and their allies
against the PCs, led by Queen Joni. The north battle is on the road and
river west of Emera and the south battle is on the roads south-west of
Aileu with the hills to the west.
The two Zeelander forces are approximately 500 soldiers each.
The northern force is led by Gustaaf Willem van Imhoff and consists of:
100 Fey, 100 Zeelanders, 100 Iron Soldiers and 100 Iberians loyal to
Lord Antonio.
The southern force consists of Adriaan Valckenier and consists of:
300 Fey, 100 Zeelanders, 100 Iron Soldiers
The two Queen Joni forces consist of:
500 Fey, 50 Iberians in Emera
500 Fey, 50 Iberians in Aileu.
... and of course, Joao's support group and the PCs.
For the mass combats I will be largely using the rules in the Minatures
Handbook for such conflicts. Some important information you need to know
for this:
Scale is 25 ft square. Rounds are still every six seconds.
Commanders control units and activities. An individuals Commander rating
starts with a base of 1 and then adds one for Leadership Feat, Fighter
Class, Level 6+, Lawful alignment, INT 13+, WIS 13+, CHA 13+, 5+ ranks
in Intimidate, 5+ ranks in Diplomacy. Subtract 1 for Chaotic alignment,
INT 8-, WIS 8-, CHA 8-, Rogue, Sorceror or Wizard, Level 1 or 2
Units are groups of soldiers of similar type. They can be formed or
unformed. In the first case they are tightly bunched, and can be
numbered in ranks and have a bonus to morale. They have a facing. Formed
units can be from 5 up to 25 medium soldiers, 5 ranks by 5 columns.
Unformed units are more maneuverable, but lack attack and morale
bonuses. They have no facing. Unformed units are from 1 up to 9 medium
soldiers.
Initiative is conducted in phases with groups of largest # of units/3
units acting each phase.
Everyone rolls to hit and damage is rolled collectively as well. For
every 'n' hit points taken by the opposing unit they suffer casulties.
Usual rules for multiple attacks, spells etc.
As the defenders you set up first. The more that you decide before the
game, the less we have to decide in the game.
