[Runequest] Site update & overcoming/resistance

Sorry to do two posts in such quick succession, but I've been getting a lot
of RQ-related ideas lately. Partly that's because the political situation
here in the US is so bad that I've been working on my long-neglected RQ
site, just to distract myself.

If anyone is interested, I've posted nine old APA zines which were
originally written for The Wild Hunt APA; there's a fairly large amount of
RuneQuest-specific stuff in them. They can be found on the Zines section of
my site (the link's in my sig). All of the zines have been freshly
annotated. I'm currently working on annotating a 31-page zine which will go
up soon - and I'm working on the article I mentioned in my previous post,
too.

Anyway, there's an issue that we've discussed here in the past, I think, and
it's still nagging me: overcoming and resistance, as they pertain to hostile
spells (and possibly spirit combat, too). There's been some debate over
whether they should be based on POW or on Magic Points, to use RQIII
terminology.

My latest thought was that perhaps it would make sense to base overcoming
and resistance on a combination of *both* - POW plus current MP. That way
being low on MP would have an impact on your ability to overcome others (and
to resist the spells of enemies) while not making the use of personal magic
points so prohibitively dangerous.

Or would it be better to retain a strong incentive for combat spell-casters
to get magic point storage crystals, matrices, familiars, bound spirits,
and/or allied spirits?
