Do not engage in a point-by-point analysis or rebuttal of another person's message. It is too confusing for others to follow, qualifies as nit-picking, and it usually leads to flame wars. 4. Anyone here inclined to chat about RQ.2 rules questions? If not, is there a separate list for 2nd. ed. rules discussion? In hopes that there *is* someone willing to answer: How do y'all handle splitting variable-power spells? (Ex.: Gulthang the Humakt initiate wants to share his handy-dandy Bladesharp-4 with ThreeWheel the Pavis initiate (who is about to help Gulthang bash a little bitty [SIZ 10] DragonSnail with his poleaxe). He wants to cast Bladesharp-4 once, splitting it into a Bladesharp-2 on his greatsword and a Bladesharp-2 on ThreeWheel's poleaxe.) Is this the way others handle it, or is it general practice to have folk cast two lower-power spells to get the same effect? Or do people do it in completely different ways? If you do allow splitting variable-power spells, which spells do you allow it on? (Could you split a Shimmer spell?) If not, is there : a separate list for 2nd. ed. rules discussion? I'm not aware of any other place to discuss RQ rules, I thought that was the idea of this list. Am I wrong? : In hopes that there *is* someone willing to answer: I'll give it a try but be warned - my house rules are mainly RQ3 with some mixing of RQ2 and RQ4/AiG. They have been playtested weekly for over 1.5 years now, evolving as needed for MGF (special combat options, etc). : How do y'all handle splitting variable-power spells? Variable power spells are able to be cast from 1 to the limit of the spell. Hence the name _variable_. Example: Bladesharp 4 (or Shimmer 4) can be cast at BS 1, BS 2, BS 3, BS 4 with the appropriate cost in MP (and make your percentage to cast, etc). Two Bladesharp 2's cost the same MP's as Bladesharp 4 but since they are two DIFFERENT targets, they are 2 seperate spells not one. Also, casting 2 BS-2s would use up both actions that round. The single BS-4 may not(depending on your approiate strike rank, etc) If you have any other questions, feel free to Email me at either address below. - -- /> Chris Cooke cookec@io.com // (//////[O]>====================================- - OR - \\ \> cookec@mml.mmc.com ------------------------------ From: ns10005@hermes.cam.ac.uk (Nigel Smith) Date: Thu, 8 Dec 1994 15:36:20 +0000 Subject: RQR: Re: Matrix Mania...
